Citadel Outlets Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness During “PINK SAVES” Campaign, in Partnership with Susan G. Komen
Events Throughout October Include a Fashion Show Featuring Fighters, Thrivers and Supporters, Free Mobile Mammograms and the World’s Largest Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (September 30, 2021) – This October during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in partnership with Susan G. Komen, Citadel Outlets is hosting its sixth annual PINK SAVES awareness and fundraising campaign. Dedicated to supporting the organization's work towards a world that is breast cancer-free, the month-long campaign will feature a fashion show, free mobile mammograms, promotions benefiting Susan G. Komen including a coupon book with steep discounts at retailers throughout the center, and the return of the Ribbon of Strength, the World’s Largest Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon. The campaign is rooted in celebrating survivors and thrivers, honoring angels, educating the public about the importance of regular breast cancer screenings, and more urgently, in connecting women with free mobile mammograms.
On Saturday, October 16, the highly-anticipated PINK SAVES Fashion Show returns to Center Court from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. More than 15 breast cancer fighters, thrivers and supporters dressed in styles from Citadel Outlets brands will strut the runway. This event is free and open to the public, and donations to Susan G. Komen will be accepted.
“We are honored to host our sixth annual PINK SAVES initiative throughout the month of October,” said David Blagg, General Manager of Citadel Outlets. “This is our way of supporting Susan G. Komen’s lifesaving work to create a world free of breast cancer and ensure those that are diagnosed with the disease have the support they need. We want to celebrate survivors and their families and for them to feel a community wrapping its arms around them.”
Additional “PINK SAVES” Events and Activations Include:
- World's Largest Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon: For the entire month of October, the Ribbon of Strength will be perched atop the center's iconic Castle Wall. This sparkling reminder of breast cancer awareness serves as a monument to the fighters, thrivers and angels in Los Angeles and across the country. The glittering ribbon is measured at 76 feet tall and 29.5 feet wide, making it the largest breast cancer awareness ribbon ever recorded. Weighing in at approximately 6,500 pounds, the ribbon is built to withstand up to 120 mph winds, has a visible surface area of 1,500 square feet and is comprised of more than 73,500 individual sequins. A replica of the Ribbon of Strength will also be on display in Citadel Outlets’ center court throughout the month surrounded by a dedication wall to survivors, thrivers and angels.
- Free On-Site Mobile Mammograms: On October 23 and 24, mobile mammogram trucks will be on-site conducting free screenings. Registration and reservations can be booked through an online reservation system at www.pinksaves.com; and walk-up appointments will take place if space is available. Susan G. Komen representatives will be present to provide education, support and ongoing services for all participants.
- $5 Coupon Books Benefiting Susan G. Komen: Shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase a $5 coupon book, which can help guests save hundreds of dollars and help save lives, with discounts to 45 of Citadel Outlets retailers. 100% of the proceeds from coupon book sales will go directly to Susan G. Komen.
“Every year, the main goal for our PINK SAVES campaign is to increase awareness and support for Susan G. Komen on a local and national scale in an effort to defeat breast cancer,” said Steven L. Craig, President & Managing Partner of Craig Realty Group, owner and operator of Citadel Outlets. “PINK SAVES is a month-long event dedicated to the courage and hope for those who have battled with and been affected by breast cancer, and we’re proud to stand with these individuals.”
